Holbox

Isla Holbox is a small island off the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. Being in Holbox is like stepping back in time because there are no sprawling resorts, no banks and no shopping malls. It is a tiny village of fishermen with simple accomodation options and magnificent beaches. Holbox has a shallow lagoon that functions as a sanctuary to thousands of pelicans, flamingos and other exotic creatures.

El Cuyo

El Cuyo is a remote fishing village of only 1,700 residents and is located on the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, inside the National Park Río Lagartos. The area is well-known for all the flamingos that live here among many other sea birds and sea turtles. El Cuyo is the perfect spot for embarking on fishing tours, enjoy kayaking through mangrove areas and practice kitesurfing thanks to the strong winds that blow here.

Playa del Carmen

This beachside city that grew up south of Cancun is, nowadays, the primary tourist destination in the Riviera Maya. La Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue in English, is the main pedestrian zone, and is surrounded with restaurants, luxury stores and nightlife options. The beaches are more popular along Fifth Avenue because this is the area where many resorts are located. If you want to get away from the crowds, go visit the northern beaches.

Tulum

Tulum is a small town that offers the only archaeological site along the Caribbean shores in the Riviera Maya. The main structures of the ruins include the city square, Temple of the God of Winds and the Temple of the Descending God. There is a small beach beside the Temple of the Descending God, and this is an ideal place for sunbathing and swimming in a location of historical relevance.

Xpu Há

Immersed in one of the most secluded areas of the Riviera Maya, Xpu Há is an immaculate white sand beach. It is quiet and it offers old school charm. This tropical paradise is the kind of place where it is possible to play volleyball, football or just chill out in one of the local restaurants. Xpu Há has calm waves and extensive stretches of sand. Since the water is just two feet deep, you can easily enjoy kayaking without danger.

The best beaches of the Riviera Maya await for you, ready to give you the present of golden sun rays and white sand. Every type of traveler, be it families, honeymooners, and old and young alike, deserve to know the Mexican Caribbean. Undoubtedly, coming here will be one of the most extraordinary experiences of your life.
